Breadfruit has a lumpy green flash and potato like texture and gets its name because when cooked it tastes like freshly baked bread. The breadfruit can grow as large as 7 pounds and is high in protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates. It can be ground into flour and used in all kinds of recipes. Breadfruit can also be eaten mashed like a potato or sautéed with oil and garlic.
Choose breadfruit that has firm greenish yellow skin, with only little bits of small cracking.
