Lots of things are happening here at New Limeco, LLC. New partnerships are growing and we are introducing new products. We have begun a new line of New Limeco label Papayas from Guatemala and our program from Belize has also seen new growth. We have been expanding our tropical product lines from Nicaragua, Ecuador and Costa Rica. And although a little late this year, thanks to a winter freeze, very colorful Florida tropical fruits are beginning to ship. We've started harvesting avocados from our groves and are packing every day. If you've noticed, we have created a brand new and striking high color New Limeco, LLC Logo - which will be featured on all of our new packaging and materials.
In the news, New Limeco, LLC continues to appear: Eddie Caram, our General Manager recently commented in The Packer's June 22nd issue in "Deciding Whether a Produce Item Is A Specialty Item Can Be Tricky".Eddie believes that items that were once believed to be "specialty" are definately becoming more widely desired, and that true "specialty items are usually not available year round or may be somewhat hard to obtain. We have taken many once thought "specialty" items and are offering them year - round. Also in The Packer's June 22nd article "Foodservice Slow Down Little Noticed by Ethnic Grower - Shippers, Marketers" Mr. Caram comments on the current recession and how it has affected Foodservice. He said even if restaurants are seeing a slow down in sales, this trend is counter acted by the fact that Hispanics do a large amount of in home cooking. Therefore, Hispanic shoppers have played a huge role in boosting retail sales. Mr. Caram is often called upon to comment on current commodity news. His knowledge and experience are very much an asset to our entire marketing program.
There's some exciting new things happening in our Food Safety Program. In addition to our packing facility being HACCP Certified by Primus Labs, we are pleased to announce that we have begun initial Food Safety Certification audits for all of Acosta Farms and our associate Florida Avocado groves. Our goal is to complete these audits on the first set of groves by October 2010. With all the pending food safety legislation, we are staying abreast of new changes and making every effort to satisfy our buyers that the produce we grow and handle is as safe as can be. You will be able to link to these audits in the upcomming months.
It is the intention of New Limeco, LLC to reassure our customers that we are always in communication with the necessary parties concerning compliance, and under any conditions will be able to provide you with accurate record keeping, including third party audit records and if required electronic records for all handlers in the food supply chain from grower to retail to facilitate traceback and not place our companies at risk. You can always download and print a copy of our most recent audit certificate for your supplier records. You can also download and review the entire audit document as well. We have a fabulous team of food safety associates that work hard to ensure that we are compliant 365 days a year. We believe that this is one of the most important certifications we can maintain as a packing house and this is a part of our commitment to provide our customers the very best service available. We will always remain accountable and dedicated to providing peace of mind as part of our service guarantee.
