New Limeco earns non-GMO certification
Princeton, Fla.-based grower-shipper New Limeco LLC has received Non-GMO Project Verified certification on its avocados, coconuts and guava from the Bellingham, Wash.-based Non-GMO Project, according to a news release.
The certification applies to New Limeco’s Powerful Harvest-branded products.
The certification shows the company’s verified products are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project standard, which means New Limeco must follow rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance including segregation and traceability to prevent contamination, according to the release.
The certification also assures customers of New Limeco’s commitment to food safety, quality and freshness, according to the release.
“Our Powerful Harvest label was developed to let consumers know how powerfully healthy these items are for their health, and by earning the Non-GMO Project Verification it gives added value to our items for the consumer,” Dori Blonder, sales and marketing director, said in the release.
In addition to the avocados, coconuts and guava, New Limeco is a grower, packer and importer of a full line of tropical fruits including limes, papayas, calabaza or hard-shelled squash, dragon fruit, lychee, malanga, yucca and other root vegetables.
